Well, today I woke up for the first time here on Ridge Road and I must say it was AMAZING! I feel like I'm at a camp somewhere up in the mountains... well we kind of are - the smell of spring pine and sap flowing was wafting through my bedroom window. The birds - my gosh the bird sounds, natures alarm clock. I sprung up and did a walk around looking out each window in amazement "I live here??" - reality check! Since the US National Forest is our back door neighbor I immediately got up to go for a walk and the smell of pine blowing all around as the snow melts and the East Branch River rages - it was a dream! I can't believe we are finally in as I can fondly remember standing inside a roped off area that Dave staked and said "so this will be the kitchen" and I had to try and picture it all. Since I'm an indecisive person, allowing Dave to make the decisions and have the vision, he has done a supurb job masterfully crafting our home.

oh my goodness, how exciting for you & dave! it's been such a pleasure to witness the whole project unfold over the past year - the results are gorgeous - no wonder you two are so happy!!! can't wait to come up & see for myself!
Hi there--I found your blog via the American Clay website. I LOVE your home and your commitment to environmentally friendly building practices and materials. My husband and I are building a "green" home across the border in Vermont next summer and are pursuing many of the eco strategies you used in your build. We are especially intrigued by American Clay, hence the exploration of their website. Anyway, I wanted to congratulate you on your home--it truly is stunning. We are going for a modern aesthetic but hope we can achieve the warmness your home exudes. If you're interested in our build blog, you can find us at www.greenhousevt.blogspot.com. Also, I wanted to mention that I saw you referenced Becca Van Fleet pottery in one of your posts...I actually went to school with Becca at Swarthmore College. If you visit her studio again, please tell her Susan Ansell (my maiden name) says hello! Small world! Oh, and if you decide to hold an open house, my husband and I would love to make the trip to NH and see your beautiful home in person! Please post on our blog or shoot me an email at hayes8705@yahoo.com if/when you set a date. Thanks!
